The Packaging Trap

One of the most common traps is the Packaging Trap. You get caught in the packaging trap when you focus on the outside packaging. This can be features such as someone's body, looks, wealth, job, possessions, connections, etc.

Focusing on the packaging causes you to overlook the reality of the person inside. This can result in at least two negative outcomes:

1. You miss someone who is fantastic on the inside but does not meet one of your packaging criteria, or

2. You miss some of the ugly characteristics inside someone because you are so distracted by the packaging.

In either case you overlook something very important because you are distracted by the packaging of the person.
