Set up online dates a few times, for Internet chatting before you agree to meet in a public place for something innocent like a cup of coffee. Always leave yourself a way out at a first meeting. Should you swop pictures with a potential date that you met online, do use a current photo that actually shows what you look like now, and not one from 20 years ago when you were prom queen. They want to know what you look like now. So to sum it all up: Avoid surprises, don't compromise your integrity in any way and get to know someone anonymously before venturing further into a potential relationship.
