It used to be we turned to disco’s, bars and nightclubs to hunt down potential love interests but no longer. Dating has gone hi tech, and as we sail through our 40’s and 50’s divorced and single again with children, it is my belief that some of us have been sufficiently wizened to realize that finding your life mate in a bar, is probably not the ideal. As little as 2 years ago even, there was a social stigma attached to assignations that resulted from online dating. Couples have been known to make up elaborate stories to explain how they came to be together. In fact, I know three couples who met online and even Married, but never told anyone the truth about how they met because of the embarrassment associated with it. Now Love Seekers readily admit to being online, and easily discuss the attributes of various dating sites and rarely stick to just one. They feast at this Smorgasbord of never ending potential soul mates with voracious appetites and plow through thousands of profiles tasting and sampling along the way, always hoping that next one will be “the one’! I don’t think that there is much difference in the dining habits (searching and seeking, dating) of men and woman. Both genders are just as inclined to lie about age, weight, height it seems, but there are a few basic differences in how they portray their attributes. There seems to be a general consensus among the men as to what makes them a good catch and many of them have placed a picture on their profiles which I have lovingly come to term, the prerequisite “dead fish picture”. This picture features a man proudly displaying a dead fish (which they have presumably just caught), sporting a baseball cap, a goofy smile and a few days growth of beard. It is my belief “fish posturing” is a man’s way of telling us ladies, subliminally of course, that they can bring home the bacon. I am just wondering, does this say PROVIDER to you ladies? Now if the guy doesn’t have a dead fish, he has a car or truck. Yes I bet he has great big honking pick up truck. Nothing

Remember Why buy the cow, when the milk is free! Lot’s of guys stop to look, but at 45, do you really want a 21 year old for your next husband? Don’t answer that you cougar you! Of course you will be rewarded with attention but it won’t be from your soul mate. Men are funny that way, but they don’t like other men to see what their woman has. They like to know it is reserved for them. So why not project a healthy, wholesome happy image where you look intelligent (men love woman in business suits), kind and positive. So many women confuse sex with love but let me assure you one more time, men don’t. Mother Theresa said, “Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible poverty,” and I agree. Just look at all the souls online looking to make a connection. No one wants to be alone. Online dating is either the greatest invention since sliced bread or the worst kind of scourge ever inflicted on the lovelorn and lonely. The jury is still out for me, but one thing I do know, when I see the guy with the fish, I will invariably click NEXT!
